The straight flute taps are most popular for general use tapping for a wide variety of applications. Prior to using a hand tap, a hole must be drilled in the base material that's slightly smaller than the tap's diameter. Be sure to keep the tap straight, applying consistant pressure while turning clockwise to create threads. Taps are essential tools in metalworking, plumbing, and manufacturing environments. Choose the best style for your needs:
- Taper: Starts thread square with workpiece.
- Plug: Utilized for threading through holes.
- Bottom: Creates thread to the bottom.
- Tap Set: Includes 1ea taper, plug, and bottom tap.
- Pipe: Choose sizing of the pipe fitting to be tapped (NPT).
