Square Nuts

A square nut has four sides, instead of the standard six sides on a finished hex nut. They are available in grade 2 strength steel offered in plain or plated for moderate corrosion resistance. Often times, a square nut is assembled with square head bolts but they are designed with standard sizes and threading. When choosing a square nut for your application, the dimensions will need to match that of the bolt or screw to ensure the threading is consistent.
Square nuts are installed with wrenches, making them advantageous in applications with space constraints. They are also less likely to loosen or rotate than a standard hex nut, offering clear alignment.
