Flat Washers

A flat washer is simply a circular piece of metal that is primarily used for load distribution for assembly applications. The threaded fastener, or bolt, will be inserted through the center of the flat washer so that it rests between the underside head of the bolt and the connecting material. The additional surface area reduces stress and helps prevent damage or pull through. Flat washer sizing is often called out by the bolt size so if you are using a ½” diameter bolt, you will need a ½” diameter flat washer as well. This is also known as the internal diameter which is universal between standards.

Flat washers are available in different standards such as ANSI, ISO, and many others which are differentiated by the outside diameter and thickness. Flat washers are versatile in material and composition with dozens of finishes or plating options as well.  Use the filters on the far left to narrow down results for the exact item required.
