Split Lock Washers (inch)

A split lock washer is made of metal formed in a spiral shape that is split in the middle. The split’s ends are slightly offset to create a spring locking feature when the washer is compressed during tightening. Split lock washers provide low level vibration resistance to prevent a bolt or nut from loosening. For optimum performance, the split lock washer is installed between the fastener and mating surface. As the connection is tightened, pressure is applied to the split lock washer that forces the spring to ‘grab’ the surface to help lock the fastener in place. Be sure to consider environmental factors when selecting the best split lock washer for your application. Fasteners Etc offers plate options in zinc, yellow zinc, and dipped galvanized for moderate corrosion resistance as well as those made of stainless steel for superior resistance.
